Cecilia was born in Cuba and raised in Chile. The first movie she produced, Piola, won the Best First Feature Prize at FICG 35 in México, was part of the Official Selection at Málaga Film Festival in Spain, and was acquired by Netflix in 2021.

Cecilia is part of the highly competitive BAFTA’s Newcomers Program, a four-year new talent initiative, recognizing and supporting international professionals and students who have recently moved to Los Angeles or New York to further their development and careers. In 2021, Cecilia became a Film Independent Producing fellow. 

She is currently developing two feature projects A Decorous Woman and Upstreamers, for which she won the Sloan Producing Fellowship in 2021. Cecilia produced the short film On my Own (2019), which won a place at the Cannes Film Festival’s prestigious Short Film Corner following its world premiere at the Havana Film Festival. It won the DGA (Directors Guild of America) Jury Prize in the student competition and was also selected at Brussels Short Film Festival, among others.

Her short documentary Partir (2011), which she produced and directed, was showcased at the Havana Film Festival and at the Chicago-Latino Film Festival and won several awards.

Aburo (2021), her directorial debut in fiction and was supported by the Amsterdam World Cinema Fund and premiered at 38th Miami International Film Festival.

Cecilia holds a BA in directing from the Universidad de Chile and graduated from Columbia University with an MFA in Creative Producing.
